Ashley Flaherty began her first season as an assistant coach with the William Paterson women’s basketball program in the fall of 2007. She joined the Pioneer coaching staff after a year as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham.
Flaherty owns numerous women’s basketball records for FDU-Florham from her four years as a starter. The Devils’ all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots, she finished her career ninth in scoring with more than a 1,000 points, and was a second-team all-conference selection as a senior. Also a standout in the classroom, Flaherty earned a spot on the Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll all four years, and was a member of the Dean’s List every semester. A member of the Psi Chi Psychology, Phi Zeta Kappa and Phi Omega Epsilon Honor Societies, Flaherty was the recipient of the James A. Griffo Award, given to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average in the athletic department.
Flaherty completed a master’s in teaching and a New Jersey Certification in Elementary Education in 2007 at FDU-Florham, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2006 with a bachelor’s in psychology. She resides in Stockholm.
