William Paterson University Athletics

Following four seasons in the pool for the Pioneers, and another as an undergraduate assistant coach, Kathleen Van Ess begins her first season as a William Paterson assistant coach in 2007-08. A consolation finalist in the 100 fly and 1,650 free at the 2006 Metropolitan Conference Championships, she was a team co-captain as a senior, a four-time College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) academic all-American, a member of William Paterson’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council and a Dean’s List selection.

Currently pursuing a graduate teaching certificate in physical education at WPU, Van Ess has also worked with the Pioneer Aquatic Club since 2006. She earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and movement science, with a minor in nutrition, at William Paterson in 2006.
