William Paterson University Athletics

Charlie Rowan joined the William Paterson staff in 2006 and was reunited with his former club coach, current WPU head coach Brian Woods.

Rowan won the State Cup as a member of Match Fit Academy, the club team coached by Woods. He started all four years as a collegian at Villanova University, leading the team in goals during his final season.

Rowan was a standout at Seton Hall Preparatory School, serving as a team captain for two years and leading his side to a No. 5 ranking from The Star-Ledger as a senior. Named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas and McDonald’s/Powerade all-American, he was selected as the New Jersey Player of the Year.

Rowan is also currently coaching with the Match Fit Academy club team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history, with a concentration in Africana studies, at Villanova in 2006.
