Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes 10th at NJAC Championship

COLLEGE PARK, MD. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team competed in the final day of the inaugural New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship, placing 10th with 189 points to close out the 2023-24 campaign Feb. 17 at the University of Maryland Natatorium.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) advanced to the 200 back C Final with a 2:22.91 finish for 23rd place in the preliminary round. In the final, she cut her time down to 2:18.68 to secure seventh place.
  • Sophomore Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) led the Pioneers in the 1,650 free final, placing 26th with a time of 20:26.57. Senior Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) placed 28th, recording a time of 23:50.42.
  • The quartet of Pricken, Gomez, senior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) finished 10th in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:52.18.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Sarah Fillipowicz secured a personal best in the 200 back preliminary round (3:09.30).
  • Graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) posted a season-best time in the 100 free preliminary round (59.16).
  • Gomez's finish in the 1,650 final was a personal best (20:26.57).
  • The 10th-place finish in the 400 free relay was a season-best time.
