Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps Western Connecticut State, 146-65

DANBURY, CONN. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving (10-4-1) collected their fifth consecutive win with a 146-65 sweep over Western Connecticut State (1-10) Jan. 27 at the William A. O'Neill Athletic & Convocation Center (ONC).
 
TOP PERFORMERS:

  • Junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) led the Pioneers with wins in the 50 back (29.44), 50 free (27.21) and 200 back (2:23.67).
  • Sophomore Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) touched the wall first in the 50 breast (35.98), 200 breast (2:44.22) and 100 IM (1:05.67).
  • Senior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) was victorious in the 200 free (2:20.02).
  • Graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) secured first place in the 100 free (1:01.85).
  • The Pioneers tallied 11 points in the 200-medley relay with efforts by Pricken, Gomez, Krajewski and Vail, finishing with a time of 2:00.00.
  • WP added an additional 11 points with their 200-free relay finish with efforts by junior Nicole Kahwaty (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech), senior Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia), freshman Sarah Filipowicz (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford) and senior Skylar Mancini (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Pricken broke the 50 back ONC pool record with a time of 29.44.
  • Skylar Mancini (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) recorded a personal best in the 100 free (1:33.07).
  • Filipowicz secured a personal record in the 200 back (3:14.81).
  • Krajewski shredded time off her 50-fly best (29.33).
  • Gomez posted a personal best in the 100 IM (1:05.67).

  • William Paterson returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 30 for a 6:00 p.m. meet at Wightman Pool against Montclair State.
