Women's Swimming and Diving Sits in Ninth After Second Day of Mets

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team completed its second day at the Metropolitan Championships with a ninth-place finish amongst 14 division III schools, Friday, Feb. 17.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The Pioneers finished 13th in the 200 free relay with efforts by junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), freshman Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech), junior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and senior Jillian Starace (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East). The group posted a time of 1:46.78.
  • William Paterson's 400 medley relay team consisted of Pricken, Gomez, Krajewski and Starace. The group finished 12th with an overall time of 4:20.32.
  • Junior Nicole Kahwaty (Lakke Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech) clocked a time of 6:16.18 during the preliminary round of the 500 free.
  • Gomez competed in the 200 IM preliminary, posting a time of 2:23.81.
  • Pricken swam a 25.70 in the 50 free preliminary round.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) recorded a personal best in the 500 free (6:42.40).
  • Senior Emily Murphy (Stockholm, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) posted a personal record in the 200 IM (2:41.75).
  • Pricken earned a personal best in the 50 free (25.70).

  • William Paterson continues at the Metropolitan Championships Saturday, Feb. 18 with preliminary rounds starting at 9:30 a.m.
