Men's Swimming and Diving Sits in Ninth After Second Day of Mets

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team completed its second day at the Metropolitan Championships with a ninth-place finish amongst 11 division III schools, Friday, Feb. 17.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The Pioneers finished 12th in the 200 free relay with efforts by sophomore Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech), junior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech), junior Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) and junior Jackson Forrest (Lewes, Del./Wayne Valley). The group posted a time of 1:40.07.
  • William Paterson's 400 medley relay team consisted of freshman Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison), junior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech), sophomore Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) and Ordinola. The group finished 12th with an overall time of 4:00.27.
  • Apito competed in the preliminary round of the 500 free (5:22.09).
  • Byrd swam the 200 IM preliminary round (2:13.15).
  • Colligan led the Pioneers in the 50 free preliminary round (23.56).
  • Forrest posted a score of 250.70 in the one meter dive preliminary round.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arias posted a personal record in the 500 free (5:22.90).
  • Byrd secured a personal best in the 200 IM (2:13.15). He also placed a personal record with his 50 back start in the 400 medley relay (29.18).
  • Colligan achieved a personal record in the 50 free (23.56).
  • Ordinola recorded a personal best in the 50 free (25.03).
  • Newman earned a personal record in the 50 free (25.69).
  • Forrest's final score of 250.70 in the one meter dive was a career-high.
