PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team completed its first day at the Metropolitan Championships with a ninth-place finish amongst 10 overall schools in the 800 free relay, Thursday, Feb. 16.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:

• The Pioneers 800 free relay team consisted of freshman Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison), sophomore Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), junior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech) and junior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech), finishing with an overall time of 7:57.04.

• William Paterson continues at the Metropolitan Championships Friday, Feb. 17 with preliminary rounds starting at 9:30 a.m.
