WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team(0-1, 0-1 NJAC) drops season opener to The College of New Jersey(1-0, 1-0 NJAC) 144-46 Oct. 15 at Wightman Pool.

TOP PERFORMERS:

• The Pioneers finished second in the 200 medley relay, with efforts from juniors Jackson Forrest (Lewes, Del./Wayne Valley), Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech), Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) and Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), finishing with a time of 2:01.55.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Arias made his first collegiate appearance in the 1000 free (12:46.02).
• Junior Bruno Gavela (Wayne, N.J./Klein Collins) made his collegiate debut in the 50 free (29.03) and 100 free (1:05.35).
• Freshman Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) produced his first collegiate appearance in the 200 IM (2:18.47), 100 back (1:03.12) and 100 breast (1:15.71).

• William Paterson travels to Sarah Lawrence on Oct. 22 for a 1:30 p.m. meet.
