Men's Swimming and Diving Earns Third Straight Victory

Senior Jimmy Sharkey Recorded Another Double-Winning Performance

Senior Jimmy Sharkey placed first in the 200 free and 100 back.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (7-4, 0-1 NJAC) collected its third straight victory following a 106-87 score against SUNY Cobleskill (5-4, 0-0 NEAC) Jan. 14.

TOP PERFORMERS:

The Pioneers took home top points in the 200 medley relay to start the meet on a victorious note. Junior Thomas Haughey (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) (31.01) and classmates Valentine Perez (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton) (32.59), Jonathan Vela (Prospect Park, N.J./Passaic County Tech) (27.00) and Honacy Beco Jr. (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) (25.24) posted a 1:55.84 finish.
Senior Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) recorded two individual victories during the meet. His times of 1:57.52 in the 200 free and 59.66 in the 100 back made him the lone double winner against the Fighting Tigers.
Senior Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) touched first in the 100 free (51.68).
After his contributions to the 200 medley relay, Perez placed second in the 50 free (24.88).
WP concluded the meet with a group victory in the 200 free relay. Junior Joey Croce (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) (26.32), junior Bradley Belina (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) (27.26), freshman Jason Peralta (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) (29.93) and senior Matt Infurna (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) (31.89) out-touched SUNY Cobleskill by almost twenty seconds, notching a time of 1:55.40.
