Women’s Swimming and Diving Drops Final Meet of Regular Season to TCNJ

Junior Quinn Reynolds Touches the Wall First in Two Events, Lawler Posts a Season-Best Dive As Pioneers Compete in Final Meet Before the Metropolitan Championships

WAYNE, N.J.  – The final meet at Wightman Pool during the 2017-18 season finished with the William Paterson women's swimming and diving program (11-5, 1-4 NJAC) dropping a 139-97 contest to the visiting Lions of The College of New Jersey (4-5, 3-2 NJAC) Feb. 3.

Despite the loss, junior Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) put forth a great showing in the final tune-up before WP heads to the Metropolitan Championships. The Delran, N.J., native bested the competition in the 100 back (1:04.48) and 200 back (2:21.42) while also garnering four points in the 50 free (27.39).

Sophomore Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), a three-time New Jersey Athletic Conference Diver of the Week this season, posted a single-winning day, registering a season-best score in the three-meter dive (209.79). She also secured four points in the one-meter dive (198.24).

Three more Pioneers posted at least two second-place times apiece. Junior Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) touched second in the 100 fly (1:07.93) and 200 fly (2:40.81), classmate Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) posted four points in the 100 free (1:02.16) and 500 free (6:05.89), and sophomore Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) registered runner-up marks in three events, the 100 breast (1:19.53), 200 breast (2:58.53) and 200 IM (2:50.06).

The WP women will spend nearly the next two weeks in preparation for the Metropolitan Championships held at Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J., during the weekend of Feb. 16-18.
