MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Four Pioneers garnered first place points, although the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (11-3, 1-2 NJAC) fell to Montclair State (8-2, 4-1 NJAC), 151-96, Jan. 27. The loss to the Red Hawks was WP's first such road defeat of the 2017-18 season.
All told, the Pioneers registered first place in five events, as the team of sophomore
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional), freshman
Sarah Myers (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham), junior
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) and senior
Katelyn Diva (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) garnered nine points with a winning mark in the 400 free relay (4:30.17).
Pineda also set a personal-best time in the 200 fly (2:31.62) and was amongst the four single winners with a victory in the 100 fly (1:07.21). Joining her was sophomore
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) in the 200 IM (2:51.00), junior
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) in the 500 free (6:02.22) and sophomore
Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), who notched nine points after the one-meter required (195.60) dive.
Jenkins also brought in four points for the Pioneers in the 200 breast (2:57.96) with a second-place finish, as did junior
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran), who swam a 1:05.31 in the 100 back.
WP goes on the road for the final time in the regular season Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 6:00 p.m. when the Pioneers take on host Ramapo (2-6, 1-3 NJAC).
