WAYNE, N.J. – It took the Division II Queens (4-1) Knights to put the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team's impressive seven-meet winning streak to an end Jan. 23 at Wightman Pool, as the Pioneers (11-2) suffered just their second loss of the 2017-18 campaign, 134-86.
There were a series of bright spots in the loss though, as junior Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) secured another double-winning outing, as did sophomore Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), and three Pioneers posted personal-best marks.
Reynolds topped all competitors with nearly a season-best time in the 50 free (26.63), and later touched the wall first in the 200 back (2:20.97). Lawler's victories came in the one-meter voluntary (139.60) and one-meter optional (190.35) dives.
Also among first-place finishers was freshman Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech), who won the 100 free (58.44) in addition to posting a personal-best time in the 200 free (2:08.92), to finish in third by just 0.63 second.
Senior Katelyn Diva (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) had a strong night, tallying three personal-best paces, beginning the night with a 34.62 split in the 200 medley relay, a 2:17.99 clip in the 200 free and a second-place time in the 200 back (2:39.17). Myers joined her teammate with two more personal bests, setting her respective times in the 500 free (7:12.21) and 1,000 free (14:47.51).
Next up for the WP women is New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe Montclair State, as the Pioneers make the short trip to Montclair, N.J., to face the Red Hawks (7-2, 3-1 NJAC) Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1:00 p.m.
