EWING, N.J. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (11-5, 0-4 NJAC) dropped the final dual meet of the season at The College of New Jersey (4-3, 3-1 NJAC), 175-98, Feb. 4.
Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) led WP with two wins, claiming the 200 breast (2:28.28) and 200 IM (2:19.90). Blazevska's triumph in the 200 breast secured a perfect career mark in that event throughout her dual-meet career at WP. She also registered a season-best time in the 100 breast (1:10.60) on the way to second place, her only career non-first place finish in the 100 breast.
Sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) was the Pioneers' only single winner, touching first in the 500 free (5:55.56).
WP had two more second-place finishers. Sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) registered second in the 200 back (2:21.85) as did sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) in the 100 fly (1:05.76), a personal-best time.
Freshman
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) placed third in the 200 breast (2:50.57) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:18.49), both of which are season-best times.
The Pioneers will compete at the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University in Piscataway Feb. 17-19.
