PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Four personal-best times were set on the final day of the Metropolitan Championships as the William Paterson men's swimming and diving team concluded the 2016-17 season by finishing seventh of 12 Division III teams eb. 19. WP placed 10th of 15 schools overall.
Junior
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) placed eighth in the 200 back B Final (1:58.57).
The Pioneers had two swimmers in the 200 breast C Final. Junior
Sammuel Melendez (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) notched fifth with a career-best time (2:20.01), and sophomore
Tyler Stevens (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) set a personal-best time (2:32.82).

Jeremy Oiler (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham), senior
Nick Cowie (Newton, N.J./Newton) and freshman
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) touched second in the 400 free relay B Final (3:17.53). It was the fastest time for the WP men in the 400 free relay this season.
Twenty-nine swimmers competed in the 1,650 free, three of which were Pioneers. Oiler placed 17th (17:52.45), freshman
Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) earned 18th with a personal-best time (18:29.67), and freshman
Matt Infurna (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) placed 22nd behind a personal-best mark (21:32.12).
