FLUSHING, N.Y. - Sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) won three events to give the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (9-2) a chance to claim the meet with a win in the final event, although a narrow loss in the 200 free relay felled WP, 119-116, at Division II Queens (5-1) Jan. 12.
Murphy would win the 1,000 free (12:20.33), 200 free (2:12.02) and 500 free (5:58.86). Freshman
Ashley Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) was another multi-event winner, securing the one-meter voluntary (131.40) and one-meter optional (165.00) dives.
WP had two single winners with sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) taking home the 100 back (1:07.14) and senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) touching first in the 100 breast (1:11.04).
The Pioneers will travel to Lehman Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1:00 p.m.
