GENEVA, N.Y. – William Paterson senior Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) saw her title defense come to an end in the third round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Small College Northeast Regional Championship Presented by Oracle Sept. 25 at William Smith College.
 
Top-seeded LaBruna fell 6-2, 6-3 to Skidmore's Michelle Fuca, this after posting a 6-2, 6-3 first-round victory against The College of New Jersey's Emily Szudlarski, and a 6-3, 6-2 second-round win against Union's Natalie Pezzuco on Sept. 24.
 
LaBruna was looking to secure her third ITA regional title after winning the 2013 and 2015 events, and she also was a semifinalist in 2014.
