GLASSBORO, N.J. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (7-1, 0-1 NJAC) opened New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) competition by dropping a 146-74 decision at Rowan (1-2, 1-0 NJAC), Nov. 11, ending WP's season-opening win streak at seven.
The Pioneers had two single winners. Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) claimed the 100 breast (1:11.70), and freshman diver
Ashley Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) added to a double-winning performance from earlier in the week by finishing first in the one-meter dive (195.08).

Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science), senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent), sophomore
Hilde Gehr (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) and sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) carried WP to a win in the 200 free relay (1:56.76).
WP will host Purchase Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6:00 p.m.
