WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (9-3) defeated visiting SUNY Cobleskill (4-5-1), 105-57, Jan. 19.
For the first time in school history, the Pioneers participated in the one-meter synchronized dive. Senior
Hannah Hillebrand (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) and junior
Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) performed the dives for WP, winning the event with a score of 157.05. HIllebrand also finished first in the three-meter dive with a score of 269.80, posting the first of two qualifying scores necessary this season to begin the qualifying process for the NCAA Championships.
Junior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) and freshman
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) each were double winners. Blazevska captured the 200 IM (2:30.87) and 200 breast (2:28.98), while Murphy won the 1,000 (12:20.99) and 500 (5:54.92) frees.
Freshman
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) took home the 200 back (2:24.16), senior
Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) won the 200 free (2:13.37), and junior
Christine Gustafson (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) touched first in the 200 fly (2:34.65).
The Pioneers will travel to Bard Saturday, Jan. 23, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
