GENEVA, N.Y. – William Paterson's Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) advanced to the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional semifinals with a pair of victories Sept. 27 at William Smith College.
 
The top-seeded LaBruna was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against Skidmore's Michelle Fuca in the third round, and posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory against NYU's Fleura Shiyanova in the quarterfinal round.
 
She collected a 6-1, 6-0 triumph against Scranton's Anika Pompitaksuk and a 6-2, 6-1 win against Ithaca's Marni Blumenthal during the tournament's first two rounds Sept. 26.
 
This marks the second straight year that LaBruna is the tourney's top seed. She won the 2013 Northeast Regional title as a freshman, and reached the 2014 semifinals as a sophomore.
 
LaBruna will finish play at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Monday, Sept. 28.
