GENEVA, N.Y. – William Paterson's Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) posted a pair of victories during the first day of the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Sept. 26 at William Smith College.
 
The top-seeded LaBruna earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Scranton's Anika Pompitaksuk and a 6-2, 6-1 win against Ithaca's Marni Blumenthal during the tournament's first two rounds.
 
This marks the second straight year that LaBruna is the tourney's top seed. She won the 2013 Northeast Regional title as a freshman, and reached the 2014 semifinals as a sophomore.
 
LaBruna will continue play at USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Sunday, Sept. 27.
