PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Teamwork was the story of the day as William Paterson men's swimming and diving team put together very competitive relays during the second day of competition at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 21 at Rutgers University.
Juniors
Nicolai Robinson (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge),
Eric Tracey (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional), sophomore
Nick Cowie (Newton, N.J./Newton) and freshman
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) teamed up to finish ninth overall in the 800 free relay (7:25.61).
Freshman
Radoslaw Myslowski (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) joined Taboadela, Tracey and Cowie in the 200 medley relay to finish fourth in the B Final (1:40.73). Taboadela's first 50 back qualified as the school record as he swam it in a blazing 25.47.
Taboadela also competed in the 400 IM in which he finished fourth in the B Final (4:16.87). Sophomore
Jeremy Oiler (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) also competed in the 400 IM, touching in sixth place in the C Final (4:36.85).
Senior
Evan Marine (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) swam his personal best in the the 100 back (57.32) to finish sixth in the C Final, while junior
Zachary Krakauskas (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) also swam his personal best in the same event (59.00), finishing eighth in the C Final.
Cowie was seventh in the 100 fly C Final (54.05).
As a team, the Pioneers were seventh of 10 Division III squads.
The Pioneers have one more day of competition at the Metropolitan Championships on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Rutgers.
