LaBruna Falls in Three Sets at Tennis Nationals

Junior to Play Again Saturday Morning

Junior Brittany LaBruna fell in three sets during the second round of the USTA/ITA Nationals.

SUMTER, S.C. – William Paterson junior Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) fell 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 to Pomona's Joy Kim during the second round of the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Championships Oct. 16 at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

LaBruna rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win the first set and opened up a 3-0 edge during the second set, but was unable to finish off the victory against Kim.

The unseeded LaBruna lost to second-seeded Ariana Iranpour of Chicago, 5-7, 6-2, 5-7, in the first round Oct. 15.

LaBruna will face fourth-seeded Summer Garrison from Lewis & Clark in the seventh-place match Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m.
