PISCATAWAY, N.J. – William Paterson freshman
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) touched seventh in the 400 IM A Final (4:49.02) after breaking a school record in the prelims (4:47.89) to highlight the women's swimming & diving team's second day at the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 15, at Rutgers University.
Blazevska also placed third in the 100 breast B Final with a time of 1:08.99.
In the 400 IM C Final, sophomore
Gabrielle Porcaro (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) finished first (5:20.28), junior
Courtney Starace (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) placed second (5:25.52) and freshman
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) touched fourth (5:35.97).
Junior
Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) recorded a time of 1:03.10 to finish third in the 100 back C Final.
The team of Blazevska, Brino, senior
Kathryn Burke (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) and sophomore
Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) touched third in the 200 medley relay B Final with a time of 1:55.94.
The 800 free relay team of Beck, Porcaro, senior
Brianna Shea (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp) and freshman
Claudia Rossi (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) finished ninth (8:42.14).
William Paterson will continue competition at the Metropolitan Championships February 16.
