Women’s Swimming & Diving Led by Relays on Day One of Met’s

English Records Personal-Best Time

Sophomore Brittany English recorded a personal-best time in the 50 free during the first day of Met's.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Two relay events highlighted the women's swimming & diving team's first day at the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 14, at Rutgers University.

The team of senior Kathryn Burke (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.), junior Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), sophomore Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) and freshman Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) finished 14th in the 200 relay with a time of 1:46.07. They also placed 11th in the 400 medley relay in 4:14.63.

In the 500 free, sophomore Gabrielle Porcaro (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) touched 39th (5:45.74), freshman Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) placed 42nd (6:05.29) and sophomore Sam Schilling (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) finished 47th (6:22.43).

English also recorded a personal-best time of 26.45 to touch 33rd in the 50 free.

William Paterson will continue competition at the Metropolitan Championships February 15-16.
