Dervishi Leads William Paterson’s Men’s Swimming & Diving on Second Day of Met’s

Donado Dervishi Places Sixth in 100 Breast B Final

Sophomore Donado Dervishi paced the Pioneers on the second day of the Metropolitan Championships
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – William Paterson's Donado Dervishi (Garfield, N.J./Garfield) touched sixth in the 100 breast B Final (1:00.04) after posting a personal-best time in the prelims (59.77) to highlight the men's swimming and diving team's second day of the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 16 at Rutgers University.

Sophomore Evan Marine (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.), freshman Eric Tracey (Newton, N.J. / Kittatinny Regional), senior Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) and Dervishi turned in a time of 1:40.91 in the 200 medley relay B Final, good for sixth place.

In the 400 IM B Final, senior Alex Carpenter (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) took seventh (4:39.16) and Joey Stefan (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.) placed eighth (4:52.39). Freshman Corey Matthews (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) touched third in the 400 IM C Final (5:05.97).

Schrils finished third in the 100 fly C Final (53.07), and Marine posted a time of 57.81 in the 100 back C Final, good for seventh place.

William Paterson will continue competition at the Metropolitan Championships February 17.
