Johns Hopkins took its first and only lead of the game in the bottom of the first on a Jeff Lynch single that scored Aaron Borenstein, who had singled and stole second earlier in the inning.

Senior Adam Derner (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional) led off the Pioneer half of the second with a single, followed by a Vin Fondacaro (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) double.  Senior Rob Somers' (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) sacrifice fly allowed Derner to score, and freshman Mike Arnold's (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) single allowed Fondacaro to cross home.  Second baseman Scott Ptaszynski (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills) singled to right field to allow Arnold to score, putting WP in front 3-1.  The Blue Jays responded in the bottom half of the frame on a bases-loaded single by Adam Weiner that scored the second run of the game for Johns Hopkins.  A Kyle Neverman sacrifice fly knotted the score at 3-3.

Sophomore A.J. Flores (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) laced a one-out double to left field, and later scored on a Jack Montanile (Weehawken, N.J./Hudson Catholic) single through the middle.  Montanile was plated on a Derner single to left, making the lead 5-3 in favor of the Pioneers at the end of three innings.

William Paterson exploded for 10 runs on eight hits in the top of the fourth inning, highlighted by a Derner grand slam and a two-RBI triple for Arnold.  The Pioneers tacked on two more runs in the fifth as Derner blasted his second home run of the day, plating Montanile, who had reached on a fielder's choice, to make the score 17-3.

A bases-loaded sacrifice fly by senior Joe Hemmes was the final run scored by Johns Hopkins in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Pioneers put together a two-out rally in the top of the seventh frame.  Arnold doubled down the right-field line and came around to score on a Dorio single through the left-side.  A Ryan Gibbons (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) single plated Dorio.  Flores' two-RBI double sealed the game for the Pioneers, giving them a final 21-4 score.
