RESULTS

MADISON, N.J. – William Paterson senior Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) defeated junior teammate Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan), 7-5, 6-2, to win the Flight A championship at the NJAIAW Tennis Tournament Oct. 6 at Drew University.  Three other Pioneers advanced to finals to be contested Sunday, Oct. 7.

Puleo defeated Kean's Debra Dess, 6-0, 6-2, and Richard Stockton's Sam Koropchak, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the A championship match.  Miller earned a 6-4, 6-1 win against Stockton's Krystle Bendijo and a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Drew's Sarah White.

In Flight B, junior Lauren Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) defeated Drew's Yiyi Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-3, and Kean's Erika Tapia, 6-4, 6-2.  She will face Stockton's Sydni Fahringer in the Flight B final on Sunday.

Sophomore Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) fell to Fahringer, 4-6, 3-6, before battling back to defeat Drew's Kezia Santos, 8-0, in Flight B.  She will take on Laura Church of Richard Stockton in the B consolation final.

In Flight C, sophomore Kristy Daubert (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) defeated Drew's Leslie Monroy, 6-4, 6-1, before dropping a 4-6, 4-6 match to Scout Bauer of Richard Stockton.

Junior Fallon Conry (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) dropped her opening Flight C match, 1-6, 0-6, to Stockton's Kristy Faren, but defeated Drew's Alex Scarborough, 8-3.  She will challenge Kean's Kristy Verdi in the C consolation final.

Freshman Summer Bernales (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) had a first-round bye in Flight D before defeating Drew's Ashleigh Fernandez, 6-2, 6-2.  She fell to Stockton's Gianna Letinski in the semifinal round, 0-6, 0-6.

Freshman Caitlin Pariso (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) defeated Brianna Martin of Kean 9-8 (9-7), before suffering a Flight D second-round loss of 1-6, 1-6 to Letinsky.

Sophomore Karissa Barongan (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) also received a Flight D first-round bye, then defeated Kean's Zenzile Liggins, 6-4, 6-2.  She lost to Tara Varga of Richard Stockton in the semifinals, 4-6, 1-6.
