GALLOWAY, N.J. – Fifth-seeded William Paterson (9-8-2, 5-4 NJAC) was eliminated by fourth-seeded Richard Stockton (16-3-2, 6-2-1 NJAC), 2-0, Oct. 27 in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Tournament.
Stockton scored a goal in each half during a physical match. Jacque Becker started things with a tip-in of a crossing pass from Jessica Balnis for a 1-0 lead. Balnis broke through the Pioneers' defense and found a wide open Becker for the easy goal at the 19:53 mark. The Ospreys held the 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Stockton picked up the insurance goal after a flurry of activity in front of the Pioneers' net. Kiera Hines poked in the rebound after a shot by Dailey Todd was stopped by William Paterson goalie
Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley). Hines' goal came with 12:56 left in regulation and sealed Stockton's trip to the conference semifinals.
Stockton held a 12-1 shot advantage for the game. Osprey goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle picked up her fifth shutout of the season, making just one save. Junior
Mary Jane Seiler (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made three first-half saves for the Pioneers, and Falduto posted three stops.
