WAYNE, N.J. – Eight different Pioneers contributed at least one point as William Paterson (7-8-1) celebrated Senior Night for its men's soccer program with a 6-1 romp against Farmingdale State (8-9-1) Oct. 22.
Just 10:39 into the contest, sophomore
Omar Jallow (Union City, N.J./Union City) netted his first career goal, getting on the end of a ball senior
Dan Patton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) sent across to the left side of the box and then finishing back to the right post.
Patton got one of his own 10 minutes later, receiving a pass from sophomore
Rafael Marques (Woodland Park, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) and drilling a shot that Ram keeper Angelo Viteritti deflected but could not stop from popping over his head and crossing the goal line.
Junior
Hugh Riley (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) made it a 3-0 margin in the 22nd minute, finishing a
Karl Schroeder (Long Valley, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) through ball up the middle of the field to the lower left of the frame.
Freshman
Sean Neal (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) collected his first career goal at the 26:07 mark. Schroeder started the play with a corner kick to the far post, and freshman
Josh Basket (Oak Ridge, N.J./West Milford) redirected it to Neal, who tapped it in.
Jallow scored his second goal of the night in the 53rd minute, redirecting a ball on the goal line after
Michael Encarnacion (Franklin, N.J./Passaic County Tech) sent a long cross to Patton on the right side of the box and Patton drilled it across the frame.
Encarnacion put his own name on the scoring ledger, converting a 55th-minute penalty kick for his first goal of the season.
J.T. Famularo provided the Rams' goal, driving a deep ball just under the crossbar at the 68:07 mark.
Sophomore
Ben Horowitz (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) did not make a save for WP, and Farmingdale's Viteritti had nine stops.
Prior to the match, WP honored its seven seniors –
Naeem Boucher (Paterson, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep),
David Chase (Randolph, N.J./Morristown), Encarnacion,
Wes Ostrzycki (Edison, N.J./Edison), Patton,
