Men’s Swimming & Diving Earns 47-18 Senior Day Victory

Pioneers Defeat Visiting Post

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (8-4, 0-2 NJAC) earned a 47-18 Senior Day victory against visiting Post (0-3) Jan. 28.

Senior Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) was a double winner in the 500 (5:15.62) and 1,650 (18:26.63) frees, while sophomore Mike Paliukaitis (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) touched first in the 50 free (30.52) and 100 back (1:04.89).

Sophomore Jason Koros (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) posted a win in the 200 free (1:56.51), senior Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit) was victorious in the 100 breast (1:11.77) and freshman Evan Marine (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) won the 200 IM (2:14.67).

Junior Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) registered a victory in the 100 fly (56.48) and sophomore Troy Buglio (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) won the 100 free (54.12).

Prior to the meet, the Pioneers honored seniors Birkbeck and Zappile.

WP will compete at Ramapo Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 6:00 p.m.
