BOX SCORE

WESTON MASS. – Junior Naeem Boucher (Paterson, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) contributed three goals and an assist to help lead William Paterson (2-0-1) to an 8-0 win against the host Pride (2-1) in the final of the Regis Tournament Sept. 4.

Seven of the Pioneers' scores came during the first half, starting just 3:01 into the contest when sophomore Matt Nigro (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) blasted a Boucher cross that sailed from the left side to the far post. Boucher then scored three times during a 10-minute span, the first unassisted after a run down the left side when he squeezed the ball between the keeper and the post, the second when he finished a pretty through-ball by senior Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), and the last after he raced past a defender and tucked the ball into the upper-right corner. Those three goals made it a 4-0 contest in the 18th minute.

Freshman Matt Lopuski (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.) notched his first career goal when he knocked in a Domenick Candelieri (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) cross in the 22nd minute. Ferrer ripped a shot over the keeper's head from 35 yards out 12 minutes later, and Candelieri added an unassisted strike 2:26 before the intermission, beating diving Pride goalkeeper Stefan Todorovic.

Junior Marcus Rouse (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) had the final tally when he finished a deflection in the 76th minute.

Senior Zach Collins (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) made two first-half saves for the Pioneers, and freshman Ben Horowitz (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) didn't need to make a stop during the final 45 minutes. Todorovic and Andrew LaMacchia combined for nine saves for Regis.

William Paterson will play its first home match Thursday, Sept. 8, when it hosts NYU at 7:00 p.m.
