BOX SCORE
GALLOWAY, N.J. -- William Paterson (1-4, 0-3 NJAC) rallied from a 3-1 first-half deficit to tie the score, but an Osprey goal less than a minute into overtime handed Richard Stockton (5-3-2, 1-2 NJAC) a 4-3 women's soccer victory Sept. 24.
The first half saw the Ospreys take a commanding 3-1 lead on goals by Jess McQuillen, Amanda Magana and Brianna DeStefano in the 16th, 25th and 31st minutes. The scores offset an early Pioneer tally by
Sheray Anthony (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) 24 minutes into the contest.
McQuillen assisted on Magana's goal, which came on a header off a corner kick, while Briana Fischer made the pass to DeStefano for her score. Junior
Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) had the helper on Anthony's marker for WP.
The second half saw the Pioneers tie the score on two unassisted tallies by Marabondo and
Ashley Grabowski (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge). Grabowski's goal came on a free kick from 25 yards out with just under nine minutes to play.
Both teams had a chance to win it in regulation but a shot by
Laela Brock (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) hit the right post with 45 seconds left, then the Ospreys' Jessica Balnis had a shot deflected by Pioneer goalkeeper
Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) to send it to the extra frame. McQuillen's game-winner came on a left-footed shot from the top of the box that snuck under the cross bar.
Falduto finished four saves for WP, and Sarah Hinkle had two stops for Stockton. The loss was the third staright in overtime for the Pioneers.
William Paterson will host Ramapo Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
