Women’s Swimming & Diving Loses Opener

Pioneers Fall to Visiting Rowan, 134-82

Senior Brett Kuchin touched second in the 200 IM (2:27.71) and 100 breast (1:14.65) against Rowan.
WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) dropped its season opener to visiting Rowan (1-0, 1-0 NJAC), 134-82, in women's swimming and diving action Oct. 20 at Wightman Pool.

Sophomore Lauren Carney (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) was second in the 100 free (58.95) and third in the 50 free (27.63).  Senior Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) touched second in the 200 IM (2:27.71) and 100 breast (1:14.65), and sophomore Kathryn Burke (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished second in the 100 fly (1:08.27).  Freshman Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) placed second in the 100 back (1:08.26) during her first collegiate action.

The 200 medley relay team of Brino, Kuchin, Stephanie Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) and Carney turned in a time of 2:00.49 to finish second.

William Paterson will visit St. Joseph's-Long Island Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6:00 p.m.
