Karissa Barongan (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) will move on to the Flight C Consolation Final, after the first day of competition at the NJAIAW Tennis Tournament Oct 1 at Drew University.
Puleo defeated Princeton's Alex Epps, 8-3, and Monmouth's Ashley Sandler, 8-6. Barongan lost her opening match, 1-8, to Kean's Erika Tapia, but drew a bye in the second round to advance. Both will finish play at the NJAIAW Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Sophomore
Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) was an 8-5 winner against Drew's Zoe Childs in the Flight A first round, but lost to Alex Livingston of Saint Peter's, 3-8.
Freshman
Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) defeated Monmouth's Liz D'Arcy, 8-6, before losing to Amale Gunawarzana of Princeton, 5-8, in the Flight B second round.
Sophomore
Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) lost to Hilary Burnstein of Princeton, 0-8, and Camille Sunga of Rutgers-Newark, 1-8, in the Flight B.
Sophomore
Justine Lawson (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland Regional) fell to Cristine Conde of Drew, 2-8, and Melanie Strollo of Kean, 4-8, in Flight C.
Freshman
Charrisse Smalls (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood) played in the Flight D, losing 1-8 to Jessica Nowogrodski (Saint Peter's) and 2-8 to Alyssa Teehan (Monmouth).
