Volleyball Loses to NJAC-Leading Richard Stockton

Ospreys Sweep Pioneers at Rec Center

WAYNE, N.J. – Richard Stockton (16-3, 5-0 NJAC) used a balanced effort to get past a pesky William Paterson (10-2, 2-1 NJAC) team, 3-0, in volleyball action Sept. 30 at the Rec Center.

The Ospreys scored six straight points to turn a narrow 14-11 edge into a 20-11 lead, winning the first set by a 25-13 count. The Pioneers were within one at 6-7 in the second set, but a 6-1 run and five final points off the serve of Nicole Ober handed Stockton a 25-11 victory. Tied at 11-11 in the third, the Ospreys took control with a 7-1 run and finished the sweep with a 25-17 win.

Junior Kim Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) had a team-high eight kills, sophomore Michelle Mitchell (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) collected five digs and senior Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) posted 11 assists for William Paterson.

Christine Velott paced Richard Stockton with nine kills and 10 digs. Kate Berninger added 15 assists.

The Pioneers will compete in a tri-match at Old Westbury Saturday, Oct. 2, facing Lehman at 12:00 p.m. and the host Panthers at 2:00 p.m.
