EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson softball team (26-15-1) saw its season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Richard Stockton (23-13) in the second round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament May 7 at The College of New Jersey's Lions' Park.

Richard Stockton pounded out 11 hits, scoring runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Starting pitcher Jaime Gasko kept the Pioneer offense in check throughout the game. The sophomore (10-3) earned her second victory in the NJAC Tournament, scattering seven hits while striking out seven.

The game remained scoreless through three innings as William Paterson pitcher Michele Graham (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) and Gasko were locked in a pitcher's duel.

Danielle Accardi led off the fourth with a base hit to right field and Kelly Dodd followed with a line-drive base hit to left. Jessica Sneddon then cracked the seal on the game, lacing a single to left-center to take a 1-0 lead.

The Ospreys tacked on two more in the fifth on four base hits. Dodd drove in a pair with her second hit of the day and Stockton was in command of the game. Joey Afflitto doubled to right-center in the fifth to plate Stockton's fourth run of the afternoon.

William Paterson put together a rally in the seventh with three singles. Senior Christina Zippler (Blackwood, N.J./Washington Twp.) scored on a Casey Sierra (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) base hit, but Gasko got a popup to end the game.

Sierra and senior Lacey Santone (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) both went 2-for-3 at the plate for William Paterson. Graham (15-11) went 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. Freshman Kelsey Hand (Mountainville, N.Y./Cornwall Central) pitched the final 2.2 innings, surrendering one run on three hits.

Dodd finished 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Ospreys, while Sneddon and Accardi each added a pair of hits.
