Men's Swimming Defeats Division I NJIT, 107-83

Pioneers Post Fourth Straight Win

Tyler Grady touched first in the 100 back (58.76) during a 107-83 victory against NJIT.
WAYNE, N.J. –William Paterson (4-1) defeated Division I NJIT (0-2), 107-83, in men's swimming and diving action Nov. 9 at Wightman Pool.

Senior Andrew Scimeca (Lincoln Park, N.J./Morris County Tech) placed first in the one-meter (178.72) and three-meter (183.75) dives, while junior Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) won the 500 (5:14.99) and 1,000 (11:06.32) frees. Sophomore Tyler Grady (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) touched first in the 100 back (58.76), and junior Jeremy Lim (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) won the 100 fly (58.07).

The 200 medley relay team of Grady, Mazen Yousef (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), Lim and senior Alex Burdi (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) won in a time of 1:47.61. The 400 free relay team of Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Christopher Ropka (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional), Zappile and Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit) turned in an excellent time of 3:28.47.

William Paterson will return to action Saturday, Nov. 13, at Lehman at 1:00 p.m.
