JAMAICA, N.Y. – William Paterson (4-0) shot nearly 52 percent from the floor, turned 26 York, N.Y. (2-2) turnovers into a 28-7 advantage in scoring, and owned a 16-1 edge in second-chance points to romp to an 81-39 women's basketball victory Nov. 23.
The Pioneers steadily built a 38-20 halftime advantage, but it was during the second stanza that they shot the lights out, converting on 68.2 (15-22) percent of their field goals and all three shots from behind the arc. An early 14-0 spurt during a 3:14 time span blew open the game at 56-30 with 14:16 to play.
For the game, WP was 31-for-60 (.517) from the field and 7-for-16 (.438) from three-point range, all while limiting the host Cardinals to a 34.1 (15-44) percent night from the floor. William Paterson outrebounded York 41-22 (15-8 offensive), and outscored the Cardinals in the paint by a 36-14 count.
