Grace McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) placed 36th in the 100 back preliminaries with a time of 59.41 at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships March 20.
On March 19, she placed 44th in the 100 fly preliminaries at the NCAA Championships. McKay's personal-best time in the 100 back was 57.73, good enough to establish a new school record Feb. 20 at the Metropolitan Championships.
McKay will finish her participation at the NCAA Championships Saturday, March 21, competing in the 200 back.
McKay is the first women's swimmer from William Paterson to compete at the NCAA Championships since 2006, when Kristin Clegg earned all-America laurels in the 100 back. Clegg finished her Pioneer career as an eight-time All-American, earning academic awards four times (2003-06), and twice receiving honors in both the 100 (2003, 2005) and 200 (2005-06) backs.
