OSCEOLA, FLA. – Sophomore
Lindsey Nadolny (Belford, N.J./Middletown North) hit a pair of home runs and was a combined 6-for-6 at the plate as the William Paterson softball team (6-0) cruised to a pair of easy victories March 16 at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. The Pioneers defeated St. Norbert (0-1) 9-1 and Framingham State (0-5) 10-0 in a pair of contests ended after the fifth inning.
GAME ONE
Sophomore
Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) pitched the complete game (2-0) in the 9-1 win against St. Norbert, scattering four hits and one earned run over 5.0 innings inside the circle while striking out five hitters without issuing a walk.
Nadolny's double to left field plated Vitale in the first inning, and the Pioneers tacked on three more runs during the bottom of the second, including a RBI-double off the bat of sophomore
Heather Mendez (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge). Junior shortstop
Lacey Santone (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) sent two more runners home with her single to right during the third, and William Paterson finished the day's scoring with three more runs during the fourth inning, including Nadolny's two-run blast.
Santone was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Mendez was 2-for-2 with a double, one RBI and a run scored. Nadolny was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate against the Green Knights, hitting a double and a homer while driving in three scores and scoring twice.
GAME TWO
Sophomore
Kerrie Mascarelli (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) struck out 11 hitters in 5.0 innings of work and allowed just one single by the Rams during a 10-0 victory.
The Pioneers established a big lead early, scoring twice during the first inning and five more times in the top of the second. Nadolny and sophomore
Nicole Jimmerson (North Bergen, N.J./High Tech) hit back-to-back round-trippers during the fourth inning, two of William Paterson's 12 total hits against Framingham.
Nadolny was again a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, contributing three RBI, while senior third baseman
Meghan Reilly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs-batted-in. Vitale had a double, two RBI and two runs scored as part of a 2-for-3 effort, and sophomore right fielder
Jillian Mulderig (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) went 2-for-3 with a double.
William Paterson will play Carthage at 1:00 p.m. and Trinity at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
