Men's Swimmers Return to Competition with 141-78 Victory at Queens

Pioneers Defeat Division II Knights in First Meet of 2009

Senior Michael O'Shea won the one-meter required (88.8) and optional (123.0) dives at Queens.
QUEENS, N.Y. – After an extended break for the holidays, the William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (8-1) was successful in its return to the pool, defeating Division II Queens College (1-3) 141-78 Jan. 21.

Senior David Caputo (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) touched first in the 500 (5:16.21) and 1,000 (10:52.4) frees, while junior Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) was also a double winner with victories in the 100 (49.6) and 200 (1:50.36) frees. Senior Michael O'Shea (Edgewater, N.J./Leonia) finished first in the one-meter required (88.8) and optional (123.0) dives, sophomore Evan Seftel (Montville, N.J./Montville) finished first in the 50 free (23.17), junior Stefan Rosales (Rahway, N.J./St. Joseph's-Metuchen) touched first in the 200 back (2:13.27), and junior Kirk Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) won the 200 breast (2:33.01).

William Paterson will return to action Sunday, Jan. 25, at The College of New Jersey at 2:00 p.m.
