KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The William Paterson softball team (6-4) dropped a pair of games March 20 at the Rebel Spring Games, losing to Westminster, 2-0, and St. Norbert, 6-4.
Westminster scored the only runs of the game with a pair in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman
Lindsey Nadolny (Belford, N.J./Middletown North) had two of the Pioneers' four hits, while senior
Diana Schraer (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) suffered her first loss of the season (4-1) after surrendering three hits and two runs (one earned) in 6.0 innings, striking out six and walking two.
William Paterson owned a 4-1 lead in the second game of the day, but St. Norbert fought back to score five runs in the top of the seventh. Freshman
Nicole Jimmerson (North Bergen, N.J./High Tech) drove home a run with a triple in the first, and classmate
Kelly Lauter (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) had a RBI-triple in the third.
Nadolny scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth, while junior
Ana Abourashed (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) plated a run with a sacrifice fly.
Nadolny, Jimmerson and
Katelyn Braun (Philadelphia, Pa./Gloucester Catholic) were all 2-for-3 at the plate. Sophomore
Danielle Ballard (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) suffered the loss (0-1), giving up nine hits and five runs (four earned). Schraer recorded the final three outs inside the circle.
William Paterson will finish play at the Rebel Spring Games Friday, March 21, facing Springfield at 9:00 a.m. and Macalester at 11:00 a.m.
