WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) had 15 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore forward Absatu Mustapha (Somerset, N.J./Franklin) scored a career-high 12 points, to lead the William Paterson women's basketball team (7-3) to a 76-54 victory against visiting Mount Saint Vincent (4-5) Dec. 18.

The Pioneers extended an eight-point halftime lead (38-30) by scoring the first 14 points of the second half, holding the Dolphins scoreless for the first 5:39 and without a field goal for nearly eight minutes. Mustapha matched her career best with seven rebounds to go along with her 12 points and three steals. Junior Elisa Brown (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) had nine points, four assists and five rebounds, and classmate Julie Haledjian (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) chipped in eight tallies and a game-high seven assists.

Junior Karissa Koerner led the Dolphins with 17 points, and junior Courtney Heesemann contributed eight tallies.

William Paterson will finish its pre-holiday schedule Saturday, Dec. 20, with a home game against Lehman at 1:00 p.m.
