ALLENTOWN, PA. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (2-0) advanced to the final of Muhlenberg's Scotty Wood Tournament with a 78-69 victory against Penn State Altoona (0-1) in the first round Nov. 21.
The Pioneers will face either Muhlenberg or Saint Elizabeth in the tournament championship game Saturday, Nov. 22, at 6:00 p.m.
Trailing 25-17 with 6:16 remaining in the first half, the Pioneers finished the half with a 19-5 run to lead 36-30 at halftime. William Paterson then began the second period with a 17-3 burst to lead by 20 (53-33, 13:43), thanks to eight points from freshman

April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) posted her second straight double-double with 23 points and 16 rebounds, adding four steals and two blocked shots. Lucas chipped in 13 points, three assists and a pair of steals, while junior
Erin Cook (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) had 12 points. Junior
Julie Haledjian (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 tallies, adding three assists and five steals.
William Paterson scored 33 of its points off of 30 Altoona turnovers, registering 15 steals.
For Penn State Altoona, Marissa Lucas posted 15 points and seven rebounds, while Courtney Carroll had 13 points.
