NEWBURGH N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team successfully defended its title at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, winning with a total score of 536 points Nov. 1.
The Pioneers, who have won the MSMC Invitational two years in a row and three times in the last four years, finished ahead of SUNY Maritime (399) and Mount Saint Mary (379).

Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) was a double winner for William Paterson, touching first in the 50 (22.41) and 200 (1:54.31) frees. Senior
David Caputo (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) won the 500 free (5:16.68), junior
Kirk Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) finished first in the 100 breast (1:07.47), and junior
Kevin Thomas (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) earned his first career win with a victory in the 100 back (1:03.78).
William Paterson will return to campus Tuesday, Nov. 4, hosting SUNY Maritime at 6:00 p.m.
