GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) lost a hard-fought meet at Rowan (1-0, 1-0 NJAC), 150-73, in the season opener for both schools Oct. 25.
Junior
Kirk Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) started his season with a victory in the 200 IM (2:07.03) and a third-place effort in the 100 breast (1:04.87). Senior
David Caputo (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) was second in the 1,000 free (10:42.14), junior
Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) touched second in the 200 free by 0.2 second (1:49.27), junior
Stefan Rosales (Rahway, N.J./St. Joseph's-Metuchen) placed second in the 100 back (58.31), and senior
Michael Ehlers (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) touched third in the 50 free A Final (24.81).
In addition, the 200 free relay of Rosales, Smith, freshman
Kyle Smoragiewicz (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and Karas won with a time of 1:41.42.
William Paterson will return to action Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
