PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson senior Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) was named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Swimming All-First Team in the 50 free, the league office announced March 3.

Karas was just touched out by .01 to place second in the 50 free (20.89) and swim a NCAA Championships B qualifying standard while competing at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19-21. He was named the winner of the 2010 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference’s Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award.  In addition to contributing to school records in the 200 medley (1:38.59) and 400 medley (3:37.67) relays, Karas established a new school record in the 100 back (52.91) at Mets.  He finished fourth in the 100 free A Final (46.67), and was seventh in the 200 free A Final (1:44.43).  Karas also helped lead the Pioneer 200 free relay to a seventh-place effort (1:27.53) and an eighth-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:23.51).

Karas was a member of the All-NJAC First Team in the 50 free, and the All-NJAC Second Team in the 200 free, as a junior during the 2008-09 season.
