Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) finished his competition at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships by placing 47th in the 100 free preliminaries (47.43) March 20. Karas tied for 28th in the 50 free preliminaries, posting a time of 21.15 March 17, and was 33rd in the 100 back preliminaries (53.27) March 19.
Karas was just touched out by .01 to place second in the 50 free (20.89) and swim a NCAA Championships B qualifying standard while competing at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19-21. He was named the winner of the 2010 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference's Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award and a first-team all-New Jersey Athletic Conference selection in the 50 free. In addition to contributing to school records in the 200 medley (1:38.59) and 400 medley (3:37.67) relays, Karas established a new school record in the 100 back (52.91) at the 2010 Mets. He finished fourth in the 100 free A Final (46.67), and was seventh in the 200 free A Final (1:44.43), and he also helped lead the Pioneer 200 free relay to a seventh-place effort (1:27.53) and an eighth-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:23.51). Karas also owns the school record in the 50 free (20.69, 2008-09) and was a member of the record-setting 200 free relay (1:26.78) last season.
