Haledjian Named NJAC Player of the Week March 1

Senior Honored for Play in NJAC Tournament

Senior Julie Haledjian averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 assists as the Pioneers reached the NJAC Tournament championship game.
PITMAN, N.J. -- William Paterson senior guard Julie Haledjian (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced March 1.

Haledjian averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 assists as the Pioneers reached the NJAC Tournament championship game. She contributed 11 points and dished out five assists with just one turnover during a 75-60 semifinal victory against Rowan Feb. 23, and she tied for game-high scoring honors with 16 points, adding two steals in a 70-62 championship game loss at No. 2/2 Kean Feb. 27. The eight-point margin of victory was the smallest of the season for the Cougars (26-1), who trailed the Pioneers throughout the first half of the title game.

William Paterson will face Mary Washington (21-5) in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament Friday, March 5, at the University of Rochester at 6:00 p.m. In the other first-round contest, the Yellow Jackets (19-6) will take on SUNY Cortland (25-3) at 8:00 p.m. The winners will advance to play in the second round Saturday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the U of R.
